BIKER

Captivated by the motorcycle since he was a child, García-Alix cannot imagine life without it: “no sólo es el medio de locomoción que sirve para llevarme lejos, sino ‘más allá’; siempre representó y también hoy representa para mí, un amplio concepto de felicidad, una ilusión, un pedazo de cielo en la tierra…”, states the photographer in Biker, the first book dedicated entirely to the theme of the motorcycle and to the world that surrounds it.

Many of the images in this series were taken on the occasion of the Harley gatherings held annually in the Grao de Castellón. The intention, according to Alberto García-Alix, was “to portray the people and their machines”. The rest of the photographs were taken in various locations, naturally “always on the road …, always in motion”.

Edited in 1993 for “The Song of the Crew” – an editorial project of which Alix was the founder and editor – the book brings together photographs he took between 1986 and 1993 on this topic. The Biker series thus becomes a faithful mirror of the photographer’s experiences during that period on two wheels.
