Three sad videos

The trilogy consists of three video pieces made by Alberto García-Alix, combining photography and video fragments with texts of a poetic nature, all narrated by himself in voice-over. They are autobiographical pieces, made during his stay in Paris (2003-2006), which tell us about the author’s life and his photography, closely linked.

MY HUNTER´S SOUL ON THE LINE, 2003

My hunter’s soul on the line.
Passersby come and go.
Nothing that unites us and a sound that they do not perceive
For a moment binds us.
(…)
These streets that I move,
Without a hope to stop me, join me.
They are mine already.
And sooner or later they will return my echo.
It will return its echo. And the soul of these streets,
Back to life, will come out of my oblivion.

A STRANGER TO MYSELF, 2004

(…)
Always the same sky, the same asphalt.
Despair.
Intestines that bleed while I eat my teeth.
I would like to abandon myself to silence.
Escape the constant murmur that memory leaves.
The noise never stops ringing.
I carry it inside.
My head. A thousand corners.
I was born disoriented. Why deny it?
A stranger to myself.

THREE BLACK FLIES, 2006

Listen to what my eyes cannot tell you.
I carry three black flies on my lips
Listen to their loud buzz.
Today and yesterday, they are the beating of a thousand nights together.
(…)
Help me dig a grave this morning.
Dig very deep,
Let’s bury three black flies.
Together we will place the cross.
Silence will be his epitaph.
