Self-portrait

The book “Self-portrait” was published in 2001 by the publisher of the H20 Gallery in Barcelona, on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition that Alberto García-Alix staged a year earlier in this same gallery.

They are images taken between 1977 and 2001 which, as the director of H20 Joaquim Ruiz Millet states in the prologue, are elevated “to a category of narration or fiction of anonymous History”. A story or a cross-sectional view of his life, in which not only his body, but spaces or objects that are significant in his career, come together.

According to García Alix himself, “the self-portrait is for me a conscious search for myself, through the camera, to identify myself and to find myself ”
