20 Oct Alberto García-Alix participates in Quijote Photofest 2025 in Alcalá de Henares
The first Photography Festival organized in the city of Alcalá de Henares, QUIJOTE PHOTOFEST, celebrates its sixth edition from October 24th to 26th, 2025. The event is organized by the Photography Classroom of the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá. This new edition will highlight documentary and reportage photography, led by eight specialized photographers, and will also feature various parallel activities related to photography, such as exhibitions, viewing sessions, a book fair, and competitions and calls for young talents.
As part of the festival program, Alberto García-Alix will present his work “Absence as a Stimulus,” a creation conceived as a visual lecture, in which the artist reflects on how absence, its existence, and its vital stimulus influence and are reflected in his work, serving as a guiding thread and catalyst in his photographs. Interspersed with the text of his dissertation, García-Alix displays sixty-eight images, most of which are previously unpublished and taken over the last fifteen years.
The festival is supported by the Alcalá City Council, Fujifilm Spain, Lens School of Visual Arts, the photography magazine Caption Magazine, the Print & Raw laboratory, and the Fotonline photography community.
Alberto García-Alix’s lecture will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th, at the San Ildefonso Residence Hall. Plaza de San Diego s/n. 28801 Alcalá de Henares. Registration is required on the festival website.
